For our Climate Resilience Network meetup on July the 18th we went for a walk through the Franklin Forest, Melurkedee country in the Huon Valley, followed by a forest-themed Guided Deep Relaxation practice with CRN member & Yoga instructor Alison Eastland.

We were guided through this old growth forest by one of the Friends of Franklin Forest Volunteers. The forest is home to the critically endangered swift parrot, large areas of leatherwood, and trees that are hundreds of years old. Hundreds of people have so far been involved in the protection of this forest & in the walks, and Sustainable Timbers have just decided to remove this coupe from the 3 yr plan (this does not mean permanent protection though and will be reviewed again in a year). If you’d like to go for a guided walk in this beautiful place too, contact the Friends of the Forest at friends.franklinforest@gmail.com or their Facebook page.
